Yes, that is what we had to tell our son get him to finally give up his binks. We told him that Santa would take the binks and give them to smaller kids who really need them. I know, we shouldn't lie to our children, but Dekker is 3 and it was WAY past time to give up the bink! Last night, he was allowed to stay up a little later than usual so that he was really tired and he went to bed well. Tonight, he didn't stay up as late, and it took a little longer for him to go down, but he never once asked for his binks (BLESS HIS HEART!)
On to crafting. I made the watch me grow wall hanging for Dekker's room. It turned out well and he was able to help me with it! Tutorial is coming. I just have to download the pictures on the other computer.
My sewing machine is starting to seem like a distant memory. The longer I go without using it, the easier it is to forget about it. I look at it every day when I get up, and every night when I go to bed, but I can't seem to find the time to sit down and get reacquainted with it! We are supposed to get some crappy weather this week, so maybe that will keep me home and give me time to sew some more.

I will be productive, I will be productive...
So, I am working from home today. Usually, I am productive on these days, but I just can't get in to the groove today to get much work done. Any suggestions for staying focused?
On another note -- I made a healthy dinner last night that my family actually liked! I had some chicken marinating which I cooked and sliced to make wraps with spinach, low-fat mozzeralla cheese and a little ranch dressing. I also roasted some asparagus in the oven and made brown rice that I added a little salsa to for taste. Being that I tend to be domestically challenged, I was pretty proud of myself!
I was able to buy picture frames today to try my hand print picture idea I had at 5am today when I was up with Emily. I am hoping to post my first tutorial later (once I try it and see if it works!)
Stay tuned for the finished product.

and the week goes on!
Why is it when I want the week to go by quickly, it drags, and when I have a lot of things to do, the time flies? Oh well, I guess I can't control time, so I should work on making better use of the time that I have.
Status update -- still on the diet wagon for the week, although I have had a few slips, things have been going pretty well. I actually have been packing my lunch every day and I managed to eat a fruit and or veggie with every meal yesterday. Baby steps! I tried something new yesterday that was pleasantly surprising. I tried the new Healthy Choice Steamers -- the garlic and herb shrimp (I think that was the name). It was very easy and had a great taste. I tried it because I had a coupon and now I might be hooked! Now, on to cutting out soda. That's going to be a major task to tackle...
Being that the kiddo's rooms are now organized, I am realizing how bare their walls are. I am thinking about doing some wall stickies, and maybe some blank canvases for the kids to decorate themselves. That should make for some fun times and messes. Maybe we will head to the store tonight to get things for that project. Stay tuned for updates...

Monday...
Well, another Monday and another failed attempt at sticking to a reasonable eating plan, though I am not completely discouraged, just meandering off the path a bit and trying to find my way back to the straight and narrow way of eating healthy!
On another note -- I was actually REALLY productive this weekend. I rearranged both kids rooms and finally got all of the laundry put away. I do have about 3 more loads that I have just finished that need dealt with, but at least I got through the backlog!
Also, I was able to have a night out with some work friends on Friday night, something I haven't been able to do in .... well, never. I was also able to spend some time knitting and I almost have my next knitting project done. Don't get too excited or hold your breath for a finished product just yet. Just because I'm close to being done doesn't mean it will be finished in a timely manner -- you know the title of this blog :)
On to getting the little ones ready for bed. Until tomorrow!

It starts .....
Well, after being fat for most of my life, I have decided that this will be my year. I'm hoping that having some strangers read about my struggles with weight loss (and my use of crafting as a distraction for eating) will be more motivating.
I started today with a Slim-Fast for breakfast. Not sure why because those things aren't the most enjoyable, but its better than not eating which is my usual habit! I also went to the store last night and stocked up on frozen meals for lunch -- healthy ones -- and some other healthy snacks.
My biggest problem is sticking with it! I have such a hard time making it past a week with any diet/weight loss plan. Yes, I have a limited attention span which is why I usually have about 5 craft projects going at once and it takes me forever to complete them! Anyone have any ideas for making it past the first week?
Now I am not going to post weights (other than maybe pounds lost) here. As you can see from my picture, I am overweight -- actually I could probably be classified as obese. We will just leave it at that!

Monday, Monday
Ugh. Bit of a boring Monday today. Then again, I can't remember the last time I had an exciting Monday! Had a wonderful weekend with the family. Dekker got his first professional hair cut and he did so well! I can't believe he sat in the chair and was calm! He also got to go sled riding for the first time being that there was some snow at my parent's house. Emily and I stayed inside and watched through the windows as he and Daddy were outside playing. He had fun!
I was able to cut out two pair of longies -- one pair for Dekker and one pair for a gift. Being that they are cut and pinned, I might actually get to finish them this week. I also need to make a tag blanket to go with the pair of longies that are a gift. I will hopefully post pictures by the end of the week!
Here's to an uneventful rest of the day and more blogging this week!

New Year, new entry
Well, being that I haven't posted anything in the past few months or so, I thought I should start the new year off right and post a new blog entry!
First, our family was blessed to have a safe and happy holiday week, albeit hectic, but isn't that what holidays are for? Dekker has now turned 3. I can't believe it! He is such a little boy now! He and Emily are learning to play well together, although most times I feel more like a referee than I do a mom!
I am still working 2 jobs and not making any career progress, so again, I am looking in to going back to school. If going to school were a career, I think I could be a millionaire!
Now, on to crafting. I have had a little more time to do some crafting lately. I was able to make Emily a pair of knit longies (I will post pictures later) that actually fit her! I'm impressed with myself that I got them finished before she outgrew them! I am also working on perfecting a pattern for fleece longies. I haven't made too much progress on those yet, but I would like to work on them this weekend!
And finally -- I have to make a New Year's resolution being that its the new year and all... I resolve to BLOG MORE this year and actually make something out of my blog! We shall see how that goes!
